Contributing to the South Sudan Internet Governance Forum 2026

A reflection on contributing as part of the organizing volunteer team during the South Sudan Internet Governance Forum 2026, and the importance of digital policy, inclusion, cybersecurity, and youth participation in shaping South Sudan’s digital future.

SS-IGF

Being part of the South Sudan Internet Governance Forum 2026 was a meaningful experience. It gave me a deeper understanding of how digital policy, inclusion, and youth participation shape the future of technology in South Sudan.

The forum brought together stakeholders from government, civil society, the private sector, academia, youth, media, and the technical community to discuss key issues around Internet governance, cybersecurity, digital trust, digital inclusion, and responsible technology development.

As part of the organizing volunteer team, I had the opportunity to manage the LED screen, displaying presentations, the default Forum screen, and supporting panel discussions to ensure smooth visual coordination throughout the event. Beyond the event itself, the experience was a reminder that building a strong digital future requires more than technology — it requires collaboration, awareness, policy dialogue, and active participation from different sectors of society.

The discussions at SS-IGF 2026 highlighted the importance of creating a secure, inclusive, and trusted digital environment where young people, communities, institutions, and innovators can participate meaningfully.

This experience connects closely with my continued interest in digital development, creative technology, youth engagement, and building platforms that contribute to opportunity and connectivity in South Sudan.
