I attended Girls in ICT Day in South Sudan, an event that brought together young girls, students, women innovators, partners, and stakeholders to celebrate digital inclusion and the role of women in technology.
The event highlighted the importance of empowering the next generation of innovators, especially girls and young women, to take part in shaping South Sudan’s digital future.
During the event, participants explored conversations around artificial intelligence, digital rights, locally developed digital solutions, and the opportunities available when young people are given the right platforms, support, and exposure.
For me, attending this event was meaningful because it connected strongly with the work I care about: digital innovation, youth empowerment, creativity, and building opportunities for more people to be visible in the technology space.
It was also a reminder that South Sudan’s digital future should be inclusive. Young girls and women should not only participate in technology as users, but also as builders, leaders, creators, and innovators.
